General Discussion - Get AVCHD videos from Canon HF R20 to FCP editing on Mac lydia622520 - Mon Sep 03, 2012 12:55 am Post subject: Get AVCHD videos from Canon HF R20 to FCP editing on MacCanon's Vixia HF R20 is a high definition camcorder that records 1920 x 1080 video in the AVCHD format to 8GB of internal flash memory. It features a 3-inch touch-screen display, two memory card slots, and a 20x optical zoom lens. The Vixia HF R20 records 1920 x 1080 video at 24Mbps in the AVCHD format . The quality is quite good, particularly indoors, there was little jarring noise. Colors reproduced crisply and accurately.
However, very disappointed in ease of getting HD videos from this camera to Final Cut Pro on Mac for editing. AVCHD MTS files are not the preferred format for Final Cut Studio. So if you want to edit Canon HF R20 AVCHD video with high quality on Mac with Final Cut Pro, you can convert Canon R20 AVCHD to FCP ProRes or AIC MOV before editing.
Step 1. Download and run the perfect Mac Canon Vixia AVCHD to FCP Converter , which is specially designed for Mac users to convert incompatible Canon AVCHD videos to FCP workable Apple ProRes files keeping the original video quality, and click the "Add" button to load the Canon Vixia videos to it.
Step 2. Click on Format > Final Cut Pro > Apple ProRes 422(HD) (*.mov) as the export to keep HD video for Final Cut Pro. Afterwards, you can set the output profile as you want.
Step 3. You’d better set the video size as 30fps bitrate, video size as 1920*1080 in the Profile settings interface.
Tip: Deinterlace Canon Vixia HF R20 1080i AVCHD
Click the "Editor" button, go to the Effect tab, and make sure the checkbox for Deinterlacing is ticked. The converter will remove interlacing artifacts from 1080i AVCHD videos perfectly.
