'Boardwalk Empire' renewed for third season by HBO just three episodes into Season 2
"Last Weekend's" episode was watched by 2.9 million viewers in its first telecast. HBO estimates more than 10 million people watch the show over the course of a week in subsequent telecasts and via ondemand.
Picking up "boardwalk empire box set" follows on the network's renewals of "True Blood," "Game of Thrones" and "Treme" as well as the orders of new series "Luck," "Veep," "Girls" and "Life's Too Short."
