(Sports Network) - The road doesnt get any easier tonight for the Toronto Blue Jays. Patrick Willis Nike Jersey . After being swept at Yankee Stadium, the Jays open a three-game weekend set against the Boston Red Sox. The Blue Jays were outscored 18-4 in New York and lost two more players in the process. All-Star outfielder Jose Bautista was placed on the disabled list with left wrist inflammation, while Brett Lawrie suffered a right calf contusion after a nasty spill into the camera well. "Much like the injuries weve sustained in our rotation, we havent used it as an excuse," Blue Jays manager John Farrell said of his clubs injuries. "We havent allowed that to distract us from what our end result is." Toronto has lost seven of its last eight road games and nine of its last 13. Getting the call for the Blue Jays tonight will be lefty Aaron Laffey, who is 1-1 with a 3.38 ERA. Laffey earned his first win of the season on Saturday against Cleveland, but was not impressive, in giving up four runs and eight hits with three walks in five innings. Laffey has faced the Red Sox seven times (2 starts) and is 0-1 against them with a 5.94 ERA. Red Sox starter Josh Beckett won for the first time in seven starts on Sunday, as he defeated the Tampa Bay Rays, holding them to three runs and eight hits in six innings. He also struck out seven batters to run his record to 5-7 to go along with a 4.44 ERA. The right-hander also battled through some dizziness and "borderline blackout periods" on the mound that he attributed to the flu medicine hes been taking. "I think he just had to get his feet on the ground a little," Boston manager Bobby Valentine said. "He was struggling with it, battled the whole time, but did one heck of a job putting those goose eggs up." Beckett is 4-6 in 16 career starts against Toronto. Boston won for the fifth time in seven games since the All-Star break on Thursday, as Cody Ross crushed a game-winning three-run shot in the ninth inning to lift the Red Sox to a 3-1 victory over the White Sox in the finale of a four-game set. Carl Crawford sparked the rally with a leadoff single off reliever Matt Thornton (2-6). After Dustin Pedroia grounded into a fielders choice, Adrian Gonzalez singled to right and Addison Reed entered from the bullpen. Ross then launched a 1-1 fastball from Reed over the Green Monster to send the Red Sox to their fourth win in five games. "Its all about what they feel about themselves," said Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine of his clubs recent play. "We dont have any nicks on our armor. Were a pretty good team." Alfredo Aceves (1-6) earned the victory for tossing a scoreless ninth in relief of starter Clay Buchholz, who fired eight innings and allowed just six hits and one walk while striking out six. Alex Boone Jersey . The 27-year-old Layne was 0-5 with a 3.28 ERA in 32 games, including two starts, at San Antonio. The Padres acquired Layne from the Arizona Diamondbacks for cash considerations on May 3. Vernon Davis Womens Jersey .Y. -- Johnny Powless had three goals and added four assists as the Rochester Knighthawks handed the Calgary Roughnecks their first National Lacrosse League road loss of the season, 14-12 on Saturday night. http://www.teamshopsanfrancisco49ers.com/aldon-smith-jersey . -- His tender left hand and sore left hamstring both on ice after a big day, Yoenis Cespedes shared how he reminded himself to keep the celebration to a minimum. Patrick Willis 49ers Jersey . Inter dropped into UEFAs second-tier competition this season after seven straight years in the Champions League, which it won in 2010. Liverpool, the 2005 Champions League winner, also featured in Fridays draw, and will travel first to face Renova of Macedonia or Gomel of Belarus. Justin Smith White Jersey .J. -- The Super Bowl-champion New York Giants and two-time Pro Bowl defensive end Osi Umenyiora have ended their feud. VANCOUVER -- Eric Hassli was accurate when he had to be Wednesday night. Hassli came off the bench and scored a highlight-reel goal in added time to give the Vancouver Whitecaps a 1-1 draw with Toronto FC in the first leg of the Amway Canadian Championship soccer final before a crowd of 14,878 at B.C. Place Stadium. "Im a striker," Hassli said. "I have to score. But Im disappointed for my teammates, because we wanted to win tonight." The winner of the two-game, total-goals series will represent Canada in North American, Central American and Caribbean zone (CONCACAF) Champions League play. The CONCACAF champion will qualify for the 2013 FIFA Club World Cup. The second leg goes next Wednesday in Toronto. The Reds are seeking their fourth straight Canadian title, while the Whitecaps are seeking to avenge a loss to TFC in last years final. Hassli volleyed in a long cross from Alain Rochat just as four minutes of extra time were announced. It was his fourth goal in five games since he ended a 17-game scoreless drought that dated to last season. "It was incredible," said Whitecaps coach Martin Rennie. "It was probably too fast for the cameraman to see it." The tying marker came a day after Hassli practised volleys off corner kicks but fired many shots into the B.C. Place Stadium seats, including one that almost hit Vancouver Province soccer writer Marc Weber as he was working on his laptop. "I almost killed Marc yesterday," Hassli said. "Alain (Rochat) gave me a great ball, too. You have to be lucky, and I was lucky tonight." So were the Whitecaps as a group. Until Hasslis goal, it looked like struggling Toronto was going to pull off an upset. The Reds have just two victories in all competition this season, a 2-0 decision over the Montreal Impact in the second leg of their Amway semifinal and a 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Galaxy in the second leg of a CONCACAF Champions League quarter-final. Vancouver, meanwhile, defeated Edmonton by a 5-1 margin in its semifinal and sports a respectable 5-3-2 mark in league play. "It was tough giving up a goal the way we did," said Ryan Johnson, who scored Torontos goal in the 66th minute. "But we have a chance to win it at home in front of our fans. Thats very good for us." The Whitecaps pressed in the first 20 minutes, but the Reds kept them hemmed in their half of the pitch for most of the next 25 minutes and much of the second half. "Overall, it was a good game," Johnson said. "Theres been so many negative games this year. Its good to have some good games under your belt." Toronto had a chance to go up another goal in the 85th minute, but Vancouver goalkeeper Joe Cannon robbed second-half substitute Nick Soolsma from pooint-blank range. Colin Kaepernick Impact Jersey. . Rennie said the save could prove crucial. A 2-0 Toronto lead would have made it difficult for the Whitecaps heading into the second leg. "But getting that equalizer right at the end gives us a much better chance and makes it exciting for next week," Rennie said. "There were spells in the game where we played fine and did some good things, but it wasnt like we were playing excellent." Toronto was credited with 12 goal attempts compared to 10 for Vancouver. The Reds forced seven corner kicks while the Whitecaps only had three. "It was a good result," said Toronto coach Aron Winter. "But if you watched the whole game, we deserved to win." Away goals serve as the first tiebreaker in the series and can help prevent overtime and a penalty-kicks shootout if the score is deadlocked after the second leg. As a result, Johnson was still satisfied even after his club surrendered the equalizer. "Youre playing away from home," Johnson said. "You dont expect to win games like this. Youre happy with the tie, especially getting the away goal. Youve got to be happy with that." Rennie attempted to insert more offence as he substituted Hassli in for Etienne Barbara, who generated little in his first start as a Whitecap. But it was Toronto who scored first as Johnson headed in Julian de Guzmans cross from the corner of the 18-yard box. However, Hassli, who was denied a goal in a second leg of the 2011 final between these clubs that was abandoned by a sudden storm, had the last laugh. "It was a great goal," Johnson said. "I was surprised he wasnt starting. ... The quality that he has, he shows it -- and tonight he showed it again." And Hasslis misses of a day earlier were almost forgotten. "Its okay," Hassli said. "Tonight, (the shot) was in." Notes: Toronto midfielder Terry Dunfield, a former Whitecap playing his first game in his hometown since a trade last summer, was cautioned in the 49th minute after he made a hard tackle on Matt Watson, drew a foul and then kicked the ball away. ...
