Steve Buscemi stars as Enoch (Nucky) Thompson, a slightly renamed version of real-life Atlantic City kingpin Nucky Johnson. From his post as city treasurer, Nucky became the go-to guy in Republican politics. He also got rich from bootlegging whisky.
The former position obligated him to an endless string of lavish goodfellow dinners. The latter brought him into regular contact with the likes of Lucky Luciano (Vincent Piazza) and Arnold Rothstein (Michael Stuhlbarg), who are silky-smooth and ultra-dangerous.
